Direct Primary Care

One of the great advantages of being a Medi-Share member is that you have a say in what your program should look like through the member vote process. In May 2020, Members voted to maximize their membership in a few new ways, including access to Direct Primary Care (DPC), free telemental health, and annual physicals eligible for sharing.

Effective December 1, 2020, Members on the $12,000 AHP who use a Direct Primary Care provider can submit their DPC fees, up to $1,800, for sharing. If their AHP has not been met, the DPC fees will be applied to their AHP. Members will submit a Reimbursement Form with their DPC invoice to get reimbursed/credit applied to their AHP. To learn more about Direct Primary Care or to search for a DPC provider in your areas, visit https://mapper.dpcfrontier.com/.

Direct Primary Care is a growing, innovative way for a patient or family to join a primary care practice. DPC provides access to the physician at any time for well care, sick care, or a telemedicine visit. For a reasonable monthly fee, there are many benefits-- including a yearly physical, reasonable labs according to your specific DPC provider, medications that can be purchased at cost, and referrals to lower-cost labs, radiology services, and specialty physicians who charge fair fees.

This can be an ideal solution for Medi-Share members with a high AHP who want to be good stewards of their own finances. The monthly fees can be as low as $50 for an individual and $100 for a family, but they vary in different areas of the country.

Member FAQs

+ Can I be on any other level of Annual Household Portion and use a DPC?

You are welcome to use a Direct Primary Care provider at any time, but your DPC fees will only be eligible for sharing when participating at the $12,000 AHP level.

+ Will my annual physical be eligible for sharing if I have a DPC provider?

Members who utilize a DPC provider will typically receive their annual physicals, clinicals, and labs through their DPC physician, but each doctor sets up his or her DPC practice differently.

Check the website of the DPC practices near you to see exactly what is included in their monthly fees.

+ Do I already have to have a DPC relationship to choose this option?

No, you may select a DPC provider at any time and as long as you have the $12,000 AHP, the monthly fees can be deducted from it. You do not have to inform Medi-Share of your DPC provider.

Another way to find a physician who works solely for you and not a "health plan" is to check the website www.jointhewedge.com. These physicians are in no networks and provide good care at reasonable prices-- a great value for Medi-Share members at any AHP level.
