Pre-Notification is the process medical providers use to let Medi-Share know of an upcoming procedure or treatment. Pre-notification of medical bills does not guarantee eligibility or sharing.

Members are required to direct their providers to pre-notify Medi-Share for any of the following treatments to be eligible for sharing:

  • Inpatient hospitalizations
  • Non-emergency surgeries
  • Elective cardiac procedures
  • Cancer diagnosis or treatment (incl. medication)
  • Organ/tissue transplant services
  • Specialty medications (including infusions/injections given at home or in a doctor's office) require pre-notification to Navitus at 1.833.837.4306

Providers pre-notify online at MyChristianCare.org/ForProviders or by calling (321) 308-7777. To expedite the pre-notification process, providers should include applicable medical records.

In the event of emergency/urgent care, the Member or provider needs to provide notification within 72 hours of when care was given.

Pre-notification of medical bills does not guarantee eligibility or sharing.

MORE QUESTIONS?

+ What is the advantage of pre-notification?

Pre-notification helps us manage and prepare for significant incoming medical bills, and allows us to negotiate on your behalf for greater discounts.

+ How do I pre-notify?

How do I pre-notify?

Your Medi-Share member card instructs providers to visit MyChristianCare.org/ForProviders where they will find the online provider portal.

It’s an easy-to-use, online experience that will let your provider know if your service is eligible for sharing, and will let us know this treatment or procedure is coming so we can negotiate for discounts on your behalf.

If they prefer, your provider may:

  • Call (321) 308-7777 to pre-notify, or
  • download a pre-notification form and fax to us at (321) 722-5141.

However, they are encouraged to use the online portal as it is most convenient and gives them an immediate response regarding service eligibility.

+ What if my provider doesn't pre-notify?

Pre-notification helps us manage and prepare for significant incoming medical bills, and allows us to negotiate on your behalf for discounts. The guideline change is meant to encourage you to let us know in advance for those reasons. In most cases, your provider is familiar with this process and it is a regular part of what they do when you have an imminent, non-emergency significant procedure or treatment.

+ What is the expected processing time for pre-notification?

Providers can expect the following response times to their pre-notification requests. Please note that medical records must accompany requests that are designated emergent or urgent in order to meet this timeframe.

  • Emergent: 24 hours
  • Urgent: within 72 hours
  • Elective: within 14 days
