ANNUAL REPORTS

Full FY21 Annual Report

By Scott Reddig, CEO

For many of us, 2021 was a blur. Where 2020 seemed to drag on, 2021 never slowed down. A year filled with uncertainty and constant change, it was one I will not forget.

As a health care sharing ministry, we continued to experience challenges related to COVID, and pivoted frequently to address the ongoing and ever-changing needs of our Medi-Share members and employees.

The one constant during the last year was the faithfulness of our Father. Through sickness and health, through change and challenges, our God is faithful to this ministry and the members we serve. As believers, we have the reassurance of God’s Word to comfort us, and I continue to seek the Lord’s guidance as we move into 2022.

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!  Psalms 27:13-14 (NKJV)

I encourage you to review our Annual Report for fiscal year 21. In it, we provide a review of financial results and a discussion of initiatives to give readers some appreciation for Christian Care Ministry’s continued stewardship and facilitation of the Medi-Share program.  It is also a chance for us to report on new initiatives that we executed, like Project K.E.E.P., which mobilizes members to pray for elected officials.

Over the last year, we had the opportunity to help shape health care sharing by participating in the Alliance of Health Care Sharing Ministries, an advocacy organization that serves to protect and preserve the rights of members to engage in health care sharing ministry programs as a viable alternative for addressing medical expenses. We also continued to make inroads with legislators and policymakers through various government affairs initiatives to build relationships and educate about the unique service that is health care sharing.

Internally, we focused on how to improve the experience of our Medi-Share members and conducted an in-depth member-wide survey to collect feedback. The results were telling and gave us some real insight, and in some instances, confirmation, as to what to deem most important for the upcoming year. For example, members overwhelmingly asked for more provider access, which we had identified as a priority this past fiscal year.

Our national outreach program, announced last year as part of our strategic plan, has matured and we saw firsthand how God works through His people to “Transform society through the Biblical model of sharing” as our vision declares. One such initiative was our collaboration with Missions.me on the streets of Los Angeles, as we mobilized with thousands to participate in 1DayLA. There, we celebrated the donation of a mobile medical clinic to serve the uninsured in Los Angeles, made possible because of the generous donations of our Medi-Share community.

Our employees also continue to give of their time in their local communities, and we celebrate this commitment to serving in our annual “Day of Sharing” each October.

Beyond all the initiatives, challenges, and improvements from the past year, I am most heartened by our CCM employees. Even through another year in which many of our employees worked remotely for at least part of every week, CCM employees again designated Christian Care Ministry a “Great Place to Work!” Regardless of the changes that Covid brought upon the workplace, our employees remain fully engaged as they want to support Medi-Share members and ‘excel at stewardship’ as called for in one of our recently adopted core values.

So amidst a year of trials, there was triumph. Our numbers reflect God’s faithfulness in caring for His people THROUGH His people, with more than 984 million in medical bills shared in FY21. The reports of how our members are blessed through sharing continue to pour in and the generosity of our members is notable through donations to Extra Blessings and our outreach efforts. God is present, He is faithful, and He has a plan for this ministry. As we move into 2022, I am grateful to serve alongside our incredible employees, and I am thankful for the trust our members have in this organization and each other to share their burdens.

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.  Psalms  34:18 (NIV)

I am mindful that many have experienced sickness and loss over the last year, and our hearts are with those of you who are suffering or struggling. Please know that we lift our members daily in prayer, and consider it a privilege to serve you during your time of need.

Thank you for being a part of our community.  May the Lord bless you and keep you in the year ahead.
